The Bombers bit colour system - making selection easier

Bombers users a system of colour coded mouthpieces to help you select the right bit for your horse.  Each category gives the symptoms that horses display and the mouthpieces that have been designed to deal with with those symptoms

Sensitive Tongue & Head Shakers

When pressure is applied to a horse with a sensitive tongue, its response will be one or more of the following:

  • Shaking its head
  • Sticking its tongue out
  • Sucking its tongue back and as a result making an intermittent coughing noise
  • Trying to put its tongue over the bit

A neutral bit is suitable for a horse that holds its head in the correct position when pressure is applied and shows no signs of having a sensitive tongue or objecting to the pressure.

Head Up & Out (To Drop Head Down)
If a horse objects to pinching of the tongue and bar pressure it will poke its nose up and out. These bits will reduce the pressure on the tongue and bars and as a result the horse will bring its head down and in.
